Dal Lake vs Nigeen Lake

When booking a houseboat, location is everything. We offer premium boats on both lakes depending on what type of experience you desire.

  • Dal Lake: Bustling, vibrant, and incredibly popular. Ideal for first-timers who want to see the famous floating market, watch hundreds of Shikaras, and be near the Boulevard road.
  • Nigeen Lake: Quiet, pristine, and secluded. Nigeen is technically a part of Dal Lake but feels entirely different. Highly recommended for honeymooners and those seeking absolute silence.
  • Food & Amenities: All our premium houseboats include standard Indian breakfast and dinner. Every room features an attached private bathroom with hot water geysers.

Winter Warning (Dec-Jan)

Houseboats are made of wood and float on freezing water. While they offer electric blankets and traditional Bukhari heaters in the living room, they do NOT have centralized electric heating like 4-Star hotels. If you are traveling with infants or elderly parents in deep winter, we strongly advise booking a hotel instead of a houseboat for their health and safety.

Houseboat FAQs (People Also Ask)

During the summer months (July/August), mosquitoes can be present near dusk. All our houseboats provide mosquito repellents and sealed windows to ensure a comfortable sleep.

Yes, houseboats have an internal kitchen and caretakers. However, you are expected to eat your main meals (Dinner/Breakfast) in the lavish common dining room alongside other guests.

Yes, it is completely safe. The houseboat owners and caretakers reside either on the boat or on an attached smaller boat. They are highly hospitable and ensure the safety of all their guests 24/7.
